The Devil In Disguise

Image
You look like an angel (look like an angel) Walk like an angel (walk like an angel) Talk like an angel But I got wise You're the devil in disguise Oh yes you are Devil in disguise Mmm-hmm-mmm You fooled me with your kisses You cheated and you schemed Heaven knows how you lied to me You're not the way you seemed... —"(You're The) Devil In Disguise," written by Bill Giant, Bernie Baum, and Florence Kaye, recorded by Elvis Presley and the Jordanaires An appropriate photo, given that Christine wore a metaphorical mask in front of me for the first half of our relationship. For just about nine months, Christine Kim-Minh Le was Miss Piggy to my Kermit the Frog. And if you've actually watched Jim Henson's OG The Muppet Show --or pretty much any Muppet movie, or the 2015-16 ABC sitcom (which she and I are both fans of)--you'll know that analogy is not a compliment. You've probably noticed that it's been a while since the last post on this blog. Well, I...

Sabes: When Milah met Scott

Image
Sabes no pido nada mas Que estar entre tus brazos Y huir de todo el mal Que a todo he renunciado Por estar junto a ti Sabes no dejo de pensar Que estoy enamorado Te quiero confesar Que soy solo un esclavo Que no sabe vivir sin ti -"Sabes," written by Kiki Cibrian, Manuel Ruiz, Performed by Reik This is Milah (pronounced mee•luh), my pupper, and, for a long while, the only love of my life. She was adopted on March 5, 2016 (coincidentally on Scott's birthday), from the San Bernadino Valley. A family was fostering her for a while but couldn't keep her any longer. Puppy Milah was a little too much for them. She's a mix of Chow Chow, Siberian husky, and a little bit of Chinese Sharpei–quite the cute combination. She's the calmest when Spanish love songs are playing. Something about the smooth melody soothes her. She's very friendly...but a little wary of children (my youngest cousin would yell 'Horsey!!' and chase after her when he sees her). I also fou...

Future Days

If I ever were to lose you I'd surely lose myself Everything I have found dear I've not found by myself Try and sometimes you'll succeed To make this man of me All my stolen missing parts I've no need for any more I believe And I believe 'cause I can see Our future days Days of you and me...

My Whole Life

Is it me Is my intuition wrong Or does it feel like coming home Cause it's almost like you speak my language   We spent over 24 hours (8 of it snuggling in each other's arms and sleeping, of course) together between Friday and Saturday. Our time that weekend didn't end there. After returning home and napping most of Saturday, I woke up on Sunday feeling like I needed to go on a drive, to reflect, and ruminate over everything–from the new experiences to the changes in my life now that I'm in a new relationship with Scott. Thankfully, I had an excuse to drive down to San Diego.  Yet on that drive, I didn't process through much. I have dated so many, and earlier this year, almost settled for a person that lived a few states away because I was done with online dating. I wish I could return myself the two months of that wasted time and effort back. I tried to believe the lies I told myself. I was so desperate for something that I couldn't have. However, t his time, I...

Can't Help Falling In Love

Wise men say, only fools rush in But I can't help falling in love with you Shall I stay? Would it be a sin? If I can't help falling in love with you —"Can't Help Falling In Love," written by Hugo Peretti, Luigi Creatore, and George David Weiss, originally recorded by Elvis Presley

Baby It's You: The Week that Defined Our Future Together

All these painted faces, singing back to me There's an ocean here, but you are all I see And nothing else matters You, baby, it's you… —"Baby It's You," written by Dot Major, Hannah Reid, Daniel Rothman & George FitzGerald, recorded by London Grammar

This Could Be The Perfect Fit: Where We Started, part 3

Tell me that it's madness to want something quite like this But they don't understand the magic that I can't resist Oh, and wouldn't it be so tragic if everything just went amiss And this could be the perfect fit —"Perfect Fit," written and performed by Van Morrison Poor Christine sounded so flustered when she called me on her way to Johnnie's! I stayed on the line until she arrived, helping guide her back to the restaurant lot. And yes, those first minutes when we were waiting on the sandwiches were awkward--it's kinda hard to read someone's expressions when you can only see half their face, plus, y'know, the whole first date jitters thing. All of that melted away after we got to the park--blanket down, food out, masks off. There's the Christine whose profile got my attention. I can't contain a smile when she takes a big bite of that hot pastrami and comes up grinning. We start sharing stories about our families, our adventures, our ph...
